My dearest feline, how I miss your love
That you bestowed on me and me alone
You were my faithful friend, my precious dove
You made my lonely house a happy home
You did not care for others, only me
You shunned their touch, their voice, their very sight
You showed them your disdain so openly
You hissed and scratched and ran away in fright
But when we were together, you were sweet
You purred and cuddled on my lap or chest
You rubbed your head against me, licked my feet
You made me feel that I was truly blessed
You were my loyal companion for years
You shared my joys and sorrows, hopes and fears
But then one day, you left me all alone
You closed your eyes and breathed your final breath
You broke my heart and chilled me to the bone
You left me with a void, a wound, a death
I buried you beneath the old oak tree
I carved your name and dates upon a stone
I cried and prayed and wished that you could see
How much I loved you and how much I moan
You were my only solace in this life
You were my darling kitty, my soulmate
You helped me through the hardships and the strife
You gave me peace and joy that were so great
You were my dearest feline, my true love
And now you watch me from the stars above
